In the end, neither Gabriel's nor Quinnat's questions were answered. Urna took a stance to flank them and had her own thoughts about taking captives. He wasn't sure that it was the best move or not, but the two Duskorna members didn't wait to find out. A waterfall would cascade in he and Quinnat's direction. Too bulky to dash out of the way, Gabriel instead uses his already parted legs and lowered head, and twists to the side, attempting to tank the wave and hope it doesn't sweep him off his feet. He would grunt at the force of the wave, squinted eyes watching Quinnat for signs on whether they were going to go through with Urna's plan. Regardless, he didn't like the idea of perpetuating any weak-willed Verdantis stereotypes either, and opted for the path of most resistance on the Duskornians' part. Whether or not they were actually going to take any captives, punishment would be dolled out.
The hulking brute would charge after them, maw parted showing the full extent of his saber teeth as he kept his breath even. As he runs, he would attempt to discharge the steel bone spikes along his neck - the projectiles would make a wide arch upwards and outwards, hoping to impale themselves somewhere in the wild dog's legs. With the abundance of healing magic in this world, there is little doubt any harm would be permanent. But the message should he be successful would be clear: he wanted it to be a reminder, a simple start to the kind of pain Verdantis could inflict.

There it was! Urna's heart soared as Enya burst into action, even as the Duskornan monarch's tactics caught her off-guard. Enya had just earned herself a little more respect in her books.
The squirming tension that Urna had been holding in her chest erupted through her throat in a hyena chuckle that crescendoed into a full-blown laugh. The hunt was on.
A tongue of flame spashed against the ground where Enya's paws had been a moment ago. The wet earth steamed in her wake. Too quick! Urna lunged after her, sparing a quick glance to place the others.
The green one had already cut and run, but he paused to look back at Enya like a mother wildebeest who hadn't quite decided to leave her calf to the fangs of the pack. Gabriel forged his way through the tumultuous water flow to close the distance. The glint of his bone spur projectiles arrowed true, and Urna clamped her jaws on a grin. Her attention snapped back to Enya.
The river was crashing back in on itself around them. Urna bunched her legs and threw herself at the opposite shore, heedless of the risk of finding herself outnumbered.

Shifty wasnt watching where he was going he was to concerned about the 'Yena fighting Enya he wanted to make sure his new mentor was ok so he could be mentored once they were out of this situation. He watch with pleasure as Urna trip over herself as she plumeted into the rapids. She out of the fight now.
Out of nowhere the bone spurs shot towards him like porcupine quills only faster and heavier hitting. Right in his hind quarters pelted by the spurs it hurt extremely bad drawing a bit blood that has a slight green tinge to it. Shifty fell prone to the ranged blow. He couldnt bear to look at his buttocks, pulling them out would have to be up to someone else he couldnt deal with the pain it would cause. "Enya help!" Shifty called out as the horned wolf moved in for the kill or to put him into custody.
The sudden pull and overflow of water from the river was enough to catch at least one of the wolves off guard. The feathered one hadn't dodged the wave and looked hindered. The horned one hadn't either, she'd noticed as she turned to check on their pursuits with a quick glance over her shoulder, but seemed less affected than the feathered one. Her hunch had been correct. He had braced, and had launched an attack at them, chasing them in hot pursuit. The flurry of action happened so quickly that she and Shifty had hardly had a chance to place distance between them before she heard the sharp cry of pain from her new companion. She heard the feathered one yell, "Loyalty kicked in now?" after them. She glanced her shoulder, looking to see if Shifty faltered. He had. He'd been struck by one of the three.
Her step shifted just in time to dodge a clump of fire being spat at her by the hyena who cackled and laughed with excitement. As if the fight wasn't intense enough, the hyena's cackling sent extra chills down her spine. Her heart raced and thudded in her ears. What was she doing? Why had she turned back suddenly? She had. As soon as Shifty had called her for help, she had done a complete 180, spinning on her heels with a slide, forgoing attempting to cross the river, and ran back towards their attackers. 'Why are you turning back for a stranger? So what if they capture him? He knows nothing of me that others don't already know. Enya, turn back around, damnit!' Even as she scolded herself, she ran, trying to close the distance between Shifty and the others which, thankfully, wasn't far as they were fleeing together.
She placed herself between Shifty and the others and made an attempt to cast her healing magic with enough energy to allow Shifty to keep on the move. "Run, Shifty. If you make it, tell Caedwyn and Eon what happened here today. Follow the river East and call. Shifty, go!" Her teal gaze turned back to look at the two Verdantis wolves. There was fury within her gaze as she stared at them, challenging them each in turn. Darn that hyena having a tactical mind and forcing her to see only two of the three! Her lips pulled back as she snarled, her saliva dripping with a neon green. Her fur bristled along her body and she took a defensive stance for just a second. "Come on, then. If you're going to capture me, I'm going to make you work for it." With an opportunity spotted, Enya lunged forward towards Gabriel with her fangs barred. She leapt forward, aiming to bite any of his limbs to slow him down.

The wave caught up to Quinn too fast, knocking him off his feet and robbing him of breath for a second. He growled, eyes hardening as he heaved himself to his paws and focused on the image he was trying to give Shifty. If the wild dog noticed Quinnat’s conjured rift in the earth, he showed no sign nor fear of it.
It was all happening too fast. Bone spurs flew at Shifty, launched by Gabriel; Urna was providing a slightly eerie soundtrack. She was heading for the river –
“Urna!” Panting, Quinn did his best to catch up to the hyena - but as the water crashed back down toward the river, he thought he saw her lose her footing.
He turned his attention to Enya and Shifty, being pursued by Gabriel. At this point, with two of the Verdantis trio injured - and with Enya closing in on Gabriel, Quinn knew that they needed to regroup.
“Gabriel, Urna!” Quinn barked. “Let them go.” Sharp eyes focused on Enya. “He’smade his choice and I’m sure we’ll be seeing her again.”
The spurs would hit their mark and hit true. He hears the wild dog call for help, and Gabriel spares that moment to look behind him and assess his allies. Urna, farther behind him, seemed to have lost her footing from the current coming back, and Quinnat, his head start ruined by the initial wave, had not yet caught up to them.
Turning back, Gabriel would watch as the Monarch would make a 180°, placing her body between him and the wild dog and calling up a challenge. Ah, so his name was Shifty. Before he could even respond to the challenge, Quinnat's call to disengage would ring out, but momentum was already carrying him through. Regardless, he would attempt to stop far enough away from Enya to avoid her attack. If he stops in time, paw steps would have him walk backwards to create more distance, eyes still locked onto her but no attempt made on his part to continue.
But should he fail, the momentum would continue him close enough that Enya manages to grab a bite on his right forepaw. His forelegs, permanently morphed into that of a big cats', would have his claws automatically extend outwards from the force of her bite. He would try to move his paw out of her mouth if she'd let him, without too much force. Then, if she'd let go, he would back up and create distance.
Regardless of the outcome, he'd close his maw and lift his head a bit, a silent communication that he wouldn't continue unless she did. Hurting the Monarch of Duskorna was an entirely different matter than hurting the traitor Shifty, and taking her as hostage would cause a lot of unnecessary trouble for Verdantis, especially when Shifty could easily make them the bad guys in this situation.
Gabriel: 7/7HP
Dexterity (Slow down to avoid Enya's attack)
Success: He slows down just before Enya, making her miss
