Two rivers flow over a series of cliffs into a massive lake and water system. Jungle and tropical foliage surround the waterfalls. The sound of the falls can be heard from far around and a thick mist hangs in the air.
Ixora moved through the foliage so similar to that of her birthplace. It brought back memories of being a pup and learning to use her magic for the first time. It also brought back memories of Vrolga both the good and the bad. She had made peace with that part of her life and her interaction with Enya had only helped to solidify that. The only thing that she wished would have happened with being tugged around so much by magic, was to see her parents and siblings for a little while. Her clairvoyance magic wouldn't show them to her no matter how much she tried. It was an annoyance and a thorn in her side. Last she had known her brother was to be a father and her sister was growing up to be a menace. It would be good to see them again, even if it was only through her magic.
Stepping forward from between the jungle leaves Ixora's red coat shown in the mist. Winter was here but with the touch of the jungle here the temperature felt more inviting to her than outside its trees. Approaching one of the many rivers she trailed along its edge until she found a place where the water was more or less still. She had meet a wolf that could project their magic onto water in order to see what they wanted. Ixora's own magic liked to slide into her sight and though it didn't affect her as much as it used to it was still distracting at times.
Gold slowly covered her eyes as she stared at the water. She didn't really have a good idea of what she was doing but she figured that it wouldn't hurt to try. Reaching out to the water she tried to see if she could send her magic out and across its surface, similar way how she used to control her plant magic when she still had it. This wasn't her plant magic though and it fought her every step of the way, like it wasn't willing to go or do as she wanted it to.

He had always hated the cold, and yet somehow their kingdom had claimed lands that were affected by the cold in the winter. He could only tolerate so much weather before he yearned for some place warmer. Surely a journey over to the falls wouldn't leave the Kingdom in disarray? Besides, patrolling the border territories frequently was part of his duties. So the male found himself off in the Great Falls, where the weather was a much preferred condition. It was cool, but the warm waters and humid air prevented any sort of frost or snow. Caedwyn smiled as he trotted along through the thick forest, pleased at his own brilliance of choosing this territory for his patrol. His mind was shouting No Snow! No Snow! as he walked. Coming through the leaves, he could hear water bubbling ahead. A stream. This place was full of them.
His steps halted as he emerged and caught sight of another being on the far shore ahead of hit. Unmistakeable red-hued fur and a lighter ring by her throat. "Ixora." He hadn't meant to say it aloud, but the surprise had left him in shock. How long had it been since he'd heard her name? And how much longer since he'd seen her. He wasn't even sure if she as alive all this time. His body was trembling with an overwhelming feeling. Why was he feeling this way? Desperate? Like the whole encounter was about to slip out of his grasp. It wasn't like he was even close with her.
And yet...
His paws started to move without his permission as he entered the water and began to wade across. There seemed to be a gold light coming from the water around where she stood. It felt like he was walking into a memory of his past.
"Ixora!" he called out louder this time, his voice shaking. It felt like at any moment the current would suck him under and she'd be gone when he emerged again. Coming up to the shallow water, he waded out, his pelt completely soaked as he stood dripping on the shore, not bothering to shake the water. "Is it really you?"
The water shimmered and sparkled as a gold hue overtook its surface. Delight fluttered in her chest as she watched the shaky form of her brothers take form. It was blurry and hard to make out, her magic fighting her even now, yet it was enough. At the very least she could see that they were happy and healthy. Ixora's focus was so intent on the shaky images that she completely missed her name being spoken the first time. Only as her magic fractured the image like broken glass did she realize that someone was approaching her through the water.
Her head snapped upwards as her name was called and this time she registered the sound. Blue eyes widened as she found herself meeting the golden gaze of a wolf from her past. She had known he was alive, Enya had mentioned him after all. Yet, it still sent a wave of delight through her to see him again. The happiness at see him alive and well, if not determined to reach her, overshadowed any tangled emotions that the past might have held.
“It's really me, Caedwyn.” She greeted with a smile as she stepped closer to his dripping form. Leaning forward to butt her head lightly against his downright sodden shoulder. They had never been truly close, not like she had been with some of the others, but she found that she was just as happy to see him as she likely would have been with them. “It's good to see you again though I have to question your idea of going for a swim in winter.” She said pulling back with a tip of her head, warm smile on her face. It was the jungle here but winter still would hold an icy grip on some of the other areas. Drenched fur wasn't going to do him any good when he got home.
When she pushed her head against his shoulder he leaned in, allowing his weight to return the gesture. His tail gave a little wag behind him, gently slinging water from the tip as it moved. "Oh, well yeah I guess not. I guess I'll just have to hang around here for awhile until my coat dries out," he chuckled in response to her about swimming in winter. He absolutely hated the winter. Maybe that was what had made him come here? It was a little chance to get away from the cold and be reminded of home again, and he was glad he'd done so. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have seen Ixora again. "I-uh," he started to speak but then suddenly realized he didn't know what to say to her. It was weird trying to solidify what their relationship was. She'd been their leader when he was so young and he hadn't seen her since their secret meeting during the Casfuran festival when he was spying on Athadia. The memories felt like a dream that was about to be forgotten. "Have you been well? I know it's been a long time but - " his words cut off again as he tried to think what to say to her. He wanted to ask her so many questions and yet at the same time, he suddenly realized how close to strangers they were.
They shared so few moments in the past together, but somehow the thread that connected them refused to break. It felt similar to the way he and Enya had come together. Time brought them together and pushed them apart, only to bring them back again. Of course, he wasn't in love with Ixora the way he was with Enya, but some part of him felt the same. She was one of the few connections to his past that he had left.
He forced a little awkward chuckle and continued. "It's not everyday I run into someone from home."
