A cove of bright blue water. Along the shoreline, the tides have carved the rocks into inlets and pools where the tide catches. There are many caverns and rock formations to explore here. The tide can rise quickly, flooding many of the areas without warning. An excellent place for gathering shells or hunting crustaceans.
Night time never bothered Balthazar much. In fact he preferred to be awake in the cold quiet hours, when mostly everyone else was asleep. It was just him and the ocean lulling at the shore.
The sounds often made him think back to childhood memories- fond ones. Like when they packed that boat to go on that winter tip.
He was laying in the frame his octagonal shaped home he had started building only a few days before. So far he has the foundations, floors and walls made nicely and firmly in place. The only real task left was the roof. He wasn't quite sure he should start construction just yet- eyeing the gardens near the house.
If Larkspur or Folke were sleeping he certainly didn't want to disturb them. So he took this time to slip among the forest of palm trees that lined the coast.
The forest was silent and cold. His breath creating small puffs of cloud with each breath he made. Balthazar's focus was on the trees around him- picking two or three that could make soild cuts.
After he cut the three trees down- some vine entangled, Balthazar attempts to activate his Telekinesis powers, in order to bring the logs home and practice his abilities.
He's so busy in the woods and trying to use his powers that Balthazar doesn't notice anything else; like the fact he was being very loud in the woods- despite how silent he wishes he was.

After months of searching, after chance encounters, invitations to join the local kingdom, and a pawful of adventures, Reed had at last found Balthazar through the help of her fast friend, Larkspur. She couldn't believe it when the two of them had returned to her. The amount of excitement she felt in that moment had made her squeal and laugh uncontrollably as she had greeted the pair. Since then, she'd been glued to Balthazar - well, as much as he would allow her to be. Now that she had found him, she didn't plan on letting him go again. The sea had tried to take him from her and she swore to Mar and Tyr that they couldn't have him - not yet.
As she spent her time with Balthazar, she helped him with his constructions and slowly shifted her activity to be more nocturnal to match his. She couldn't see like he could, but she was learning to work by candle light when she had to, like she was tonight. She knew Balthazar was up and about, working away as he usually did. She herself was sharpening her weapons, carefully trying to hone the edge into a more dangerous one as she used her telekinesis to rub the stone against her blades. She sat up as she did so, holding the hilt of her blade between her jaws and holding the tip on a carefully propped rock. Her expression was focused as she worked, panting slightly from the efforts of her magic.
It was when the only thing she heard was the scraping of her stone against her blade that she thought to pause and take a closer listen. Things were quiet. She didn't hear the sound of tools being put to use. She didn't hear the shuffling of paws and wings as they moved about. She wondered where Balthazar had gone off to and after sheathing her cutlass and dagger, went to go find out.
She stepped through the forest as the moon glowed above. It didn't take her long once she stepped away from camp to hear the shifting and groaning of wood. Was he out practicing his combat skills on the beach, using the trees as punching bags? Why didn't he invite her along? That sounds like way more fun than sharpening blades for the umpteenth time. Reed stepped through the trees to see Balthazar attempting to drag the logs behind him along. Oh. Not what she thought was happening. "Hey Balthy, whatchya doin' out here?" Her nub wagged as she saw him, and she greeted him with a smile. "Want some help?"

"Hey Balthy, whatchya doin' out here? Want some help?" Her voice caught him off guard as he was making his way out of the woods, one palm tree being dragged behind him. "I could always you 'elp!" The hyena giggles as he sets the log down on the ground, tail wagging as he approached Reed. "Where 'ave you been lass?" He nearly purrs, pressing his nose into her coat he breathes deeply. "I missed you so much," he admits to her softly, pulling his face from her coat to stare at her under the lantern and moons glow.
It had felt likes ages since he saw her. Like actually saw her- and felt her. He would be damned if he let that slip through his paws now! While he did have quite a few things to complete on the house, he didn't see any reason to rush the progress. The logs were at least gathered which would ease his work load.
He took a second to nestle the log he had brought, beside the building so that it was out of their way.
He noticed that Reed had her cutlass out at some point, probably sharpening it to its finest. After all, what good would it do if it wasn't sharp and ready?
"How about you and I go looking for some fun- plenty to explore in the woods, maybe we could find an old cave or some supply?"
"Just sharpenin' my blades. Can never be too ready, right?" Reed smiled warmly as Balthazar approached her and offered her some friendly affection. "I've missed ya too. Just isn't the same without my best friend around." Reed turned to nudge him with her own nose, rubbing her head against his neck. Being a vampire always left Balthazar with an odd and unique odor, and though she couldn't say that she liked the way it smelled, she also didn't dislike it. After all, when she caught it, it meant Balthazar was around.
He prompted for them to go and explore the woods and Reed had already started nodding her head by the time he ended his sentence. That sounded like way more fun than sticking around here and doing (probably) important tasks like building a home. Besides, he had suggested that maybe they could find some supplies. She was absolutely no crafter but she was an excellent protector (even if Balthazar didn't need any protecting). So, in a different way, they would still be working on stuff for the new place.
"Oh, yes yes please!" she eagerly begged as she bounced on her paws with a tiny hop to the left, then a tiny hop back to the right, and repeated it several more times. During her bouncing, she realized she was probably being a little loud, since it was night time and all. She scrunched up her face and straightened her composure, finishing the move with a quick toss of her head to resettle her dreads. "I'll be your pirate protector and you can lead us to the spoils of war" She was exaggerating, naturally, on what the mission really entailed, but it made for much better stories this way. "I might have lost my sea legs for a bit, but I'm ready to vanquish the mightiest of monsters that dare step into our way. What do ya say, Balthy? Ready to lead us on another hearty adventure?" She paused and grinned at Balthazar, her emerald eyes glittering with excitement and eagerness. She was ready, and as soon as he took lead, she would be right on his heels with a watchful eye.
Sometimes he couldn't belive it was real, that he had Reed back. It made the male want to melt into a purring puddle. "Just sharpenin' my blades. Can never be too ready, right?" the hyena grins at her, scrunching his face and scales, This is very true, ya neva know what you'll find out thar lurking but he wouldn't let that harm her- not again- not as long as he had air in his lungs. It brought his focus to Lazarus's son, for just a moment he felt the blood in his veins try to boil, but he calms himself by focusing on Reeds next words. I've missed ya too. Just isn't the same without my best friend around." he purrs loudly under her touch, leaning into it even to nuzzle her back; breathing her scent in closely. He could feel her pulse so clear from here, he could smell her scent again. Oh how happy it made him feel. But eventually they would have to pull away from one another, even though the thought of just laying there to watch the stars sounded nice too.I'll be your pirate protector and you can lead us to the spoils of war" his heart stung slightly, but watching her bounce around did wonders for him and the male found himself giggling like a pup again. "Yes with you around everyone will think twice" he lifts his long tail and points at her blade. "Lotta wolfs fear dat ya know," and that was true. Reed was the only wolf he knew that even carried a sword. He knew going into the woods could be a grand andventure! So with Reed in tow he starts to the woods.
Once they enter the palm woods it is dark. He makes sure to keep his stride in pace with Reeds own, since he sometimes walks a little faster.
They had not gone too deep when he felt the tround shift and rattle. He uses his long tail, carefully draping it on Reed. "Hold ssstill," the words came out quick, the s sound emphasized like a snakes hiss he says it so quickly. And then the ground falls in, a cloud of dust forming.
He sniffs at it curiously, his eyes which are built for the darkness scan, looking for signs of obvious traps or maybe not so obvious traps.
