A wide ravine where a shallow, gentle river flows. Years of drought and silt deposits have built this area into a fertile delta. The river remains low and dry most of the year, staining its waters brown and creating muddy shores.
Her ear rotated around to hear Caedwyn stutter over his words as he was suddenly cramming himself into teh den with her. She grinned with delight even as he somehow managed to squeeze between her and the den's ceiling, all but squishing her with his size in the small space. "Ow!" she exclaimed as he stepped past her. She yanked her paw back, acting as if he'd stepped on it. He hadn't, but that didn't stop her from messing with him. "Caedwyn!" Now he was moving again, apologizing as he squirmed and wiggled his way to... somewhere? Oh. Beside her.
When Caedwyn had finally settled down, Enya quickly realized that going back to his den had not been a good idea. She hadn't even thought about the size of it. Crammed in here like this, she'd never get sleep. Plus, how was she supposed to stretch out her aches and pains? She looked to Caedwyn's face, which was easy enough to do since it took up most of her limited vision as it was, and saw that somehow, his red fur had grown even more red. No. Going back to his den had been the perfect idea. She leaned forward to touch her nose against the side of his muzzle.
"Caedwyn, stop. I'm just messing with you." She smiled as she spoke to him, readjusting herself to lay more comfortably, her hind legs tucked underneath her while her front legs were stretched out in front in the little space that was available. "I'm not going to steal your hoard, not without a proper challenge, at least." Her smile widened into a playful grin. "But I appreciate the offer. Though the foot-stepping I didn't appreciate." She felt sleep pulling at her, begging for her to close her eyes and rest. Caedwyn's warmth beside her only strengthened the pull that sleep held on her. He was warm, his fur soft, and his presence comforting. Besides, there was no way that anything was getting into the den with the both of them in here. If anything was stupid enough to do so, they'd get a face full of many, many fangs. "I'm going to rebuild my own hoard some day. It's time. Now that I've got a home, it's time."

"Ow! Caedwyn!" He had been so busy trying not to step on her, he hadn't really noticed she was faking being stepped on! "Caedwyn, stop. I'm just messing with you." Oh. Well that explained her dramatic, over-the-top behavior. "Why... you!" He teased in playful-aggression, before trying to nip a bit at the fur on her neck. He had turned away in embarrassment before, but now he found himself looking at her, his face almost nose-to-nose with her while she talked of rebuilding her hoard. He thought of all the homes he'd had before and the little treasure-troves he'd hidden away here and there. It was bittersweet, thinking back. He thought of Vrolga. And Athadia. And his makeshift den in the swamp when he'd been exiled and the other places he'd lived after he left Vrolga... and now this den here, with Enya. This wasn't just her home now. It was his too.
His giddy excitement calmed and he turned his head to place it over her back, resting his chin on her soft fur. He could feel her soft breaths and her warmth as they lay in the tight space. "Home." he whispered softly. "Do you ever think about all the places we've been before?" The words came out softly and quiet, almost like a whisper, and had a melancholy tone. "Not that I want to go back... it's just... do you ever miss it?"
Enya giggled as she pretended to pull away and try to escape his nipping. There was nowhere to go, of course, so the soft pinch of his teeth on her neck was unavoidable and, admittedly, deserved. She turned back towards him with soft laughter before falling quiet as he stared at her. It was a quaint moment between the two of them, and Enya found herself smiling when he turned away and rested his head on her back. The excitement of the day, the ups and downs, the emotional exchanges that had all taken place during the day had sapped her strength and taken its toll. She rested her head on her front limbs, pressing her nose against his chest.
He whispered to her and her folded ears perked to listen to each word. He asked a question, and Enya remained silent for a moment as she considered the answer. "Yes, to both of your questions." Her voice was a tired whisper. "I think about my history all the time. I think about how wildly unbelievable it sounds. How many creatures can say that they've transcended realms and survived death? It's unbelievable, stories that shamans tell the children to breed wonder and mystery, and yet it is my story." She tilted her nose to rub against Caedwyn before resettling it once more on her front paws. "I think about our history a lot, too." She was sure this was no surprise to him. "I miss the simplicity of our youth, when life was simple and direct. Before I made so many bad choices that left me with many, many regrets." The happy feeling she had felt earlier was leaving her as she started to think about her family, about Ixora, about her betrayal to Vrolga.
"But that's the past, and there's no changing it or going back. I've survived Tsillah's tests thus far, survived her judgment, and I live on to act as Her prophet." Her tone was more firm as she spoke her words, the soft whisper only returning when she spoke next and asked her own question. "What about you? Do you ever think about what you've been through and endured? Where you've been, and what you've done?"
Ooc: Enya totally misunderstands Caedwyn's question and talks about herself as usual.
"Yes, to both of your questions." So, he wasn't the only one who reminisced from time to time? His eyes peered over to her, though his head didn't move from its relaxed position on her back. He thought about her words and the impossible, unbelievable story that made up Enya's life. He wondered if one day someone would tell the tale of Enya and they'd be hearing about it when they were old. Of course, someone would have to start by telling it. It would probably be Enya herself who could do that. His maw creased with a smile as he thought about it and imagined Enya standing in front of a crowd, regaling her grand adventures and accomplishments, telling how she'd battled Tsillah and Tsillah had spared her from death. He wanted to see that someday. This was all so new and he had no idea what the future for them held, but he wanted it.
His smile relaxed when she spoke of youth, bad choices, and regrets. He hoped this moment wouldn't be one of those moments. He felt a tinge of anxiety deep in his stomach, but the warmth of her against him soothed it and he forgot it almost as quickly as it came on. He should have expected her to ask him the same questions, but somehow he was caught a bit off guard. He had many regrets. "I do," he said, his voice even softer. The thoughts at the front of his mind involved the tumultuous history between himself and Enya. But, even as he regretted the times when they fought, he wondered - Would he have ended up here if not for those moments? So part of him didn't regret it. He wanted this. Even if it meant he had to go through everything to get here.
But thinking back, his mind travelled back further in his memories. He tried to find the good memories instead and he found himself going back much further, to his youth. He hadn't had a particularly good childhood. It wasn't bad either though. It just was."So what kind of childhood did 'Enya Fault' have?" he asked. It may have seemed rather abrupt, but he was genuinely curious as the thought struck him. His thinking of his own childhood reminded him that he knew very little about Enya's life before she had come to Vrolga. It had been so long since they'd first met. He'd recruited her to their pack but he could scarcely recall what they'd talked about that first night. "I don't remember... why was it that you joined Vrolga?" There was a pause and he closed his eyes as he relaxed. "Tell me your story... Enya."
