Father was often away from the den for long periods of time. It gave the child a lot of time to do absolutely nothing within the den as she waited for him to come back with food or teach her how to use her wings or some other thing. But Roxanne's heart had a thirst for exploration and adventure, and with no other kids around she ended up doing a lot of things on her own. The leopardess had been using the day to practice hunting. She was still much too small to hunt anything like an antelope, so she took to hunting smaller critters like voles and rats. Her current prize, however, was a squirrel. Somehow, despite the bright pink and purple leopardess sticking out of this mostly greeen and brown backdrop like a sore paw pad, the squirrel nibbled away unaware at some nuts by the foot of a tall tree. She did her best hunter's crouch (complete with many inaccuracies), had her wings slightly outstretched, and her backlegs bent in preparation for a jump. Then, as the squirrel moved a bit away from her and put its back to her, she would leap out of the underbrush, using her outstretched wings to glide her forward, and attempt to pounce.
If successful, she will unintentionally use her illusion magic to disguise her presence long enough to successfully pounce on it, bringing its life to a messy end as she practices her killing bite. Triumphant, the girl will raise her tail and head high, meal held in her mouth. My first successful hunt! She'd caught bugs and stuff before, but they were hardly edible, and didn't really count in her eyes.
However, if she fails, her illusion magic will cease to work just as she leaps from the bushes, and the squirrel will be alerted. With its quick reaction, it will scamper up the tree before Roxanne could land on it. The girl would rest her forelegs on the tree's trunk in frustration, watching it rise higher and higher up the tree.
Regardless of the outcome, Roxanne's path wouuld eventually lead her to discovering the stranger she-wolf, her appearance sticking out nearly as sorely as Rox's own. The girl would immediately try to hide somewhere in the thicket, too curious to make a full retreat and opting to watch them instead.
