Midnight Mountains
A small mountain range known for its black colored rocks and mineral ore deposits. Many mining caves have been dug through the mountain but not all of these are safe. Bears and mountain lions guard the hills and many unsafe tunnels collapse without warning.

“Compared to the weather in the realm, it's perfect.” Ah yes. The storms that had overtaken the Realm had been so sudden and unusual. Caedwyn had grown up in a jungle, so he enjoyed misty tropical rains, but the rainfall in the Realm had been different entirely. It had been cold and harsh, forceful downpours that swept the dirt and plants away from the lands. Even the prey animals had begun to flee after days of endless rain. Caedwyn was just happy that they were able to leave at all. So many attempts to leave the Realm before that had failed. Perhaps it was some working of a powerful deity, he wondered. But no matter. He was pleased they had not only escaped but had managed to escape together. If they had been separated, it would have made life very difficult. Caedwyn had grown fond of Eon's company, not to mention how he would have felt if he'd ended up separated from Enya once again.

His ears gave a little prick of interest when Eon mentioned he had come looking for Caedwyn. His eyes widened as Eon displayed a bag and little glowing crystals fell out of it when Eon placed it before Caedwyn. “I found these not too far from here, just a little to the southeast. There were bunches of them. I grabbed what I could fit, but I think getting more is a good idea. I’d bet there's more stuff hiding in the caves, too." So Eon had gathered these from a cave? They were certainly entrancing. The vibrant colors caught his interest and the crystals seemed to give off a glow. Caedwyn wasn't sure if the crystals had any obvious use or magic power, but they were interesting to look at. Simply the idea of having them to add to his hoard was tantalizing.

Caedwyn reached forward with his paw slowly, not wanting to offend Eon. Despite how much Caedwyn suddenly desired the shiny gems, he wasn't going to steal them from Eon... though, the thought occurred to him. He pushed some of the gems around with his foot, allowing each one to catch the dimming evening light as he looked how they shone and glowed. "These are very intriguing, Eon," Caedwyn said with genuine interest while he inspected them. "You said there were more in the caves?" He looked up to Eon first, giving the other time to answer before looking over to the foothills of the mountain. It was getting dark. Not the best time to go looking for things, but caves would be dark no matter the time of day.

"Do you think there's something special about these? Perhaps that is why they glow? A hidden magical energy within them?" Caedwyn asked aloud, both to himself and to Eon. "Would you be willing to show me where you found these? If we gathered more of them, I'm sure we could bring them back to investigate further."
