Balthazar's reassurance that she would strike fear into those who might do them harm, that they might think twice about making bad decisions with her around, it made her smile turn into a silly, toothy grin. Even as his bladed tail hovered close to her, it's deadly sharp edge easily within distance to end her should he choose, there was no fear of the hyena. Sure, he was a vampire and sure, she knew that he needed blood to survive. Even with knowing this, with knowing how strong and powerful Balthazar was, she also knew that he would never hurt her. They had grown up together, endured pain and suffering together, and despite all the odds still found merriment and joy in the world. Her silly, toothy grin shifted as she felt a tug at her heart. Her face turned away with a blush at his compliment. "Aye, and they're smart to do so." she retorted with a smirk, recomposing herself and stepping forward to follow Balthy's shortened gait.
It wasn't long before her fearless treasure hunter alerted her to something suspicious in the area. He stopped her with his tail, draping it over her to hold her loosely. Her emerald gaze shifted around them, a light-colored glow suddenly appearing around the hilt of her sword. She readied in case she needed to use it against whatever thing Balthy had seen or heard or sensed that she had not. He hissed as he ordered her, and she obeyed, remaining stationary.
Suddenly the ground before them fell and a puff of dust littered the air. Reed closed her eyes and turned her face away trying her best to keep the dirt and debris from her nostrils and mouth. "Shield yerself" she quickly told Balthazar as the dust cloud floated outwards and settled. When Reed looked back, she gasped. The sudden hole that had appeared revealed a staircase down into some sort of ancient looking structure. The stone work was crumbling and the staircase looked to be coated with dirt and dust. "Whoaaaa" The glowing on her sword hilt ceased as her full focus turned to look down into the endless-looking stairway. "Yer the best freakin' treasure hunter ever, Balthy." she beamed with praise as she suddenly felt pure excitement course through her veins. She jumped up on her hind legs to wrap her front ones around Balthy's neck from the side. It was a hug. "Ya did it! Oh, this is gonna make some story! We gotta get down there an' see what's in there!" She let go of Balthazar, dropping her embrace and onto all four limbs once more, then started down the hallway in a dash. She didn't hear Balthazar's warning of traps until she'd stepped past the first one.
Reed is a goober and got excited! She triggered the first trap! It's a sleep dart!
Success: Reed triggers the trap but is missed by the dart. She's lucky!
Failure: Reed triggers the trap and is hit by the dart. Sleepy time?
IF REED IS HIT BY THE DART
Reed's burliness may be enough to ward off the sleepy affects
Success: Reed's constitution is too high and she shakes off the effect.
Failure: Reed's affected by the dart and falls asleep - tumbling the rest of the way down the stairway
