It was time to be on the move again.
Gatlin and his family have stayed in the Badlands for as long as they could mannage to find food and water, bit by Gatlin's father's figuring, it was high time they moved.
So their morning started with setting up camp. Packing up and loading supply to their three wagons- the attaching three ranch hands (which were better at leading the carts than the cattle).
Once everyone was packed up Gatlin, his mother, father and sister started moving the herd away from the Badlands. Unknowing they headed for the forest, looking for asafe way around the ocean and perhaps a fresh water source.
-- timeskip, making temporary camp in the jungle --
Eventually the family and hands all took a break. Gatlin and two of the hands gathered the cattle into a simple area and worked to keep them calm, while his mother and sister got camp set up.  For awhile he sat with the herd, humming softly to keep them calm- the last thing he wanted to deal with were thirteen scared cows.
"Gatlin, help with these wont you?" His mother gestured to the lean to tents. "Can't you have a ranchhand help ya' ma'? I wanna gonna try to find supper." His mother seemed displeased by the plan but let him do it anyway. With nothing else stopping him headed out to the forest looking for a decent meal.
