In the week that they've been here, Matthias had discovered a lot of new things about their predicament. The biggest one being that they certainly were not in the same region, or even country, as the one they were in last. They were, perhaps, even on a different planet, given the sudden onset of plants and animals whose designs shouldn't even be possible considering what he knew about the laws of physics and magic.
One of the most interesting things he's discovered is that he's begun to gain newfound powers. Matthias had driven an electric current over the surface of his entire body before, making his fur spike out and giving him a tingly feeling. He had discovered a second power later when trying to practice the first, revealing to him the power of telekinesis. It was an exciting discovery, one he was eager to refine and hone, and he daydreamed about all the things that would be possible now that he didn't need opposable thumbs to do it.
But all of these new discoveries also had their downfall. It was hard enough trying to survive alone with a cub to take care of, but between trying to avoid dangerous creatures the likes of which he's never seen, finding a safe spot in unfamiliar territory to rest their heads for the night, and ensuring both he and Roxanne had food and clean water in their bellies, it was wearing him out. He knew, inevitably, that he'd have to seek out a group and seek refuge, but he also knew it wasn't as easy as just finding a group and joining it. It meant commitment, it meant obedience, it meant being tied down to laws and rules and responsibilities.
For now, though, Matthias took to exploring a place called Tall Trees. They had also discovered the presence of multiple teleporters scattered throughout the region, large glowing monoliths they seemed to take them anywhere they wanted to go. I'm Matthias' case, it just took him to random places, because he didn't know where to go. While Roxanne stayed hidden away in their current temporary shelter, the blue lion explored his surroundings, walking on foot for a better feel for the terrain, eyes alert and senses open.
