A wide ravine where a shallow, gentle river flows. Years of drought and silt deposits have built this area into a fertile delta. The river remains low and dry most of the year, staining its waters brown and creating muddy shores.

He'd never seen a bug so large before. He wasn't sure why it was so aggressive, attacking them unprovoked, but it didn't matter in that moment. He keeps one eye on the beetle and one eye on Dos, glad his shield was able to protect her from the initial blow. He'd watch as the shield would take the blow, shattering out of existence. They were on their own now, but alone together.
Just then, Dos says, 'Early sorry if I shock ya too!' Wait, what? A jolt of electricity would fire out from Dos to the beetle, and the wolf can hear its garbled, bug-like screech of pain. Thank the gods; Gabriel seems to have avoided the Aftershock.
It seems disoriented from the attack, but the beetle, still enraged and not quite satisfied yet, would surprisingly push on. It would try to charge head first at Gabriel again. He wouldn't underestimate its strength and try to meet it head on, so he attempts to move around it and go behind it, then try to grab one of its legs and shake violently. Hopefully he can inflict enough pain on it to get it to back off.

Oh good, she hadn’t shocked Mr. Gabriel – a point for Dos! She was stoked about that, the latent electricity built up in her fur immediately drawn towards the glimmering orb hanging around her neck. She gave herself a cheerful little shake when it had all cleared up – this was already so much fun! And a little scary but not too scary because the silly beetle had hardly managed to do anything to them yet. She tilts her head, curious and confused about why the beetle. The creature swung its massive head towards them again and started another charge - it must have the tunnel vision her mama was always saying she had because it went right for the wolf again, allowing Dos to leap neatly to the side more or less unmolested with a giggle.
”You’re fast!” Dos complimented, watching Mr. Gabriel dodge the angry charge himself, then lunge for the creature’s leg. Ouch – that shake looked like it really hurt.
But darnit, if Mr. Gabriel was holding the beetle, she probably shouldn’t try to go for another shock. As a fox though, her jaws were slender and narrow, not thick and heavy meant for crunching. If she tried that move on the beetle as she was, she’d probably just hurt her own teeth.
Luckily, she didn’t have to try as herself.
Hyenas, she remembered, have really strong jaws, so that was what she went for. Powerful, barrel builds with stocky legs, rounded ears and most importantly, those strong blunt teeth she knew could crack bones, The electricity increased in intensity for a moment, crackling and filling the air with ozone once again although this time… she also smelled smoke? Hmm? Oh well, she’d figure it out later.
The excess energy drew into her stormbead as the newly shifted black hyena released a pleased cackle, then lunged for the beetle’s other hindleg from where she was.

Even its legs were surprisingly thicker to bite into, like a hard, chewy log or some sort. Nonetheless, he finds hold, and shakes the creatures leg around rapidly - only to ease up a little. This thing isn't sentient, right? He still wasn't sure why it was attacking, but it couldn't be for nothing. It wasn't necessary to be so extreme.
If he wasn't watching Dos with one eye, he would've thought the hyena was backup! What a convenient ability, to be able to shift into something else. In the back of his mind, he imagined all sorts of powerful, adept creatures she could morph to: a saltwater croc, an elephant, even... A whale? Could she turn into a whale? Hmm.
Anyway, back to the moment. She manages to grab onto its other leg, and it didn't really like that. So it tries to open its elytra and smack them both with it. It also tried to fly away maybe, or maybe it just wanted to try getting some extra blows in by trying to smack them with its wings as well.
The elytra smacks him in the face, but he tries avoiding the wings by grabbing on the edge of its legs instead. He figures with the added strength provided he should try dragging it into the water. Maybe it just needs to calm down in the river or something.

“Woah!” Dos yelped, releasing the limb she’d clutched in an attempt to stumble back, though not in time enough to avoid being hit. She was immediately glad to have chosen something big and sturdy rather than something small and nimble, because she hit the ground surprisingly hard after such a brutal double attack.
Suddenly this battle was a little less fun.
”Oww,” she whined a little, getting her paws with a furious shake of her head. She groaned again – Mr. Gabriel was still way too close to the creature for her to use lightning. Even worse, she watched him snag the creature's leg and yank it directly into the river. Now she really couldn’t use her powers – even she knew how badly that would go, but she didn’t want to try and swim in a form she’s never swum in before.
She eyed the river with uncertainty. She hadn’t really encountered any water creatures, what would be useful in a water fight? She didn’t know. What could she even do?
Upon noticing Dos letting go of the beetle, Gabriel would do the same. He had successfully moved it at least a few inches into the water. With all of their weight no longer holding it down, the beetle would fly off unsteadily back from whence it came. Gabriel still couldn't understand why it bothered to attack them in the first place... Did it have young around here? Was it just confused? He took a few steps in the direction it left in to ensure it was really leaving, only to stop when he heard the pained noise Dos emitted. Going over to her, he would lean down and sniff at her for any injuries, "are you okay?" instinctively, he'd try to nudge her affectionately with his muzzle, concern in his voice.
The shifted hyena winced as she attempted to place a paw down gingerly. It didn't twinge or anything, nor did it burn on contact so she concluded that she hadn't broken or even sprained it. Her flank and forelegs were just painfully bruised - she was grateful that her fur was thick enough to prevent the impact from scraping her up. She'd seen what it looked like when someone has a thinner coat and went flank-skating across the ground allowing the sharp stones and pebbles to cleave through her skin. She gave a tentative little shake, dislodging the leaves, dirt and mud that had been mashed into her side.
"Hurts," she complained a little, not limping but certainly moving gingerly towards the wolf. Seeing as the beetle had left, she dropped her shift, morphing and changing back into her original self. The twin-tailed vixen was distraught at the revelation that her fur was just as badly messed up in her original form as her hyena one, though at least her new gift was proving its use by not appearing too badly damaged by the grime and splotch. She accepted the nuzzle, grateful for the comfort being offered to her now that she was no longer having any fun. "I wanna go home."
