A valley between two mountains with forest and a river. A unique area that fluctuates between various gravity levels, allowing creatures to traverse between the ground and sky. Stars, clouds, and space dust, as well as beautiful trees and flowering plants can be found here
Urna flashed her teeth in satisfaction at the sound of Gabriel's failed dodge. She poked her muzzle out from behind cover...just in time to learn that he'd repositioned. Bone spurs shuddered into the wood, and she barely managed circle the trunk fast enough to keep her own hide from harm.
”We'll see about that!“ she snapped up at his taunt. He was out of reach. Her eyes darted up the route he'd taken onto the islands earlier. Could she make the same leaps with her shorter legs? Still got fire, she reminded herself, but surely Gabe knew that too. Gotta keep things interesting.
It'd take him a moment to replenish his spikes. Maybe this was the time for hit-and-run tactics. It rankled, not being able to commit to melee like she preferred, but Gabe's aggressive opening had her on the back foot until she could wear him out.
Urna craned her neck to inspect the tree that spread above her. There was the branch she'd used to cannonball into the fight, but the gravity wasn't in her favor this time. She leaned to see past the spikes that studded the trunk and--Wait. The spikes. She reached up with a tentacle and gave an experimental tug.
It held fast.
Her window of opportunity was closing. She yanked herself into a vault and bounded up the splay of spikes like a stairway. Gravity fell away behind her, and she sprang onto the branch feeling light as a dandelion seed.
She threw her neck forward into a gallop along the branch's length, stoking her flames as she went. When she reached the end, Urna launched herself at Gabe. They met midair in a slamming tangle of limbs, and she aimed a quick, hounding bite at one of his legs.
Time to go. Urna brought up her hind legs in a single fluid motion, opened her glowing jaws, and kicked off in a gout of flame. Greasy black smoke spilled off of her fur and roiled from her mouth. She twisted midair to make for the cover of the islands.

whew, thanks for your patience! we're gonna be rolling double Strength checks, I think. lmk if I'm assuming too much with my posts! I'm used to a little more certainty while writing action, so it's tricky for me to decide how to spend my two rolls.
hp: 3/5
Roll 1: to bite gabe. success: 1 hp damage, fail: no bite
roll 2: to rocket blast away from this man. success: 1 hp damage from fire, fail: he's fine

Dual-toned eyes watched, and waited with adrenaline and excitement running through his veins. He couldn't see her from this angle, and didn't hear a yelp or the sound of a collasping body, meaning his spikes were a bust. It wouldn't matter. Either she'd stay hidden in those trees and he'd try again in a moment, or she'd eventually make her presence known. Gabriel knew his best advantage was in close range, but he also knew Urna had a plethora of ranged and close-ranged attacks that could disable him before he could disable her. He continued to think over the possible best scenarios, sensing the pain in his own body from previous attacks. Worn, but not beaten. Still looking where he saw Urna last, he thinks, How close are you to submission?
Just then, the lithe hyena springs out from the trees - and the floating wolf braces himself for impact. Arms extend, head lowering to protect his neck and feline claws extending themself in preparation. With her acceleration and his lack of momentum, he knows an outright dodge is impossible, and so he tries to use his newfound power, callous, to harden his skin to the point of being nigh impenetrable. Her jaws would land on his left forearm, the severity of that bite dependent on whether or not he had any success.
She blasts off and turns away from him, the flames from her maw quickly heating the air around him. The smell of singed fur immediately enters his nostrils and he emits a low, grumble of pain. Now that she had used her fire, he had a rare opportunity. With teeth gritted to push pack against the pain - it'll definitely leave stinging red skin in the chest area - the brute leaps forward and attempts to grab her in a bear hold with his forepaws, the claws from his felidae right arm wanting to score marks along her chest and keep her pinned close. If he is successful, they'll both be hovering midair with her back on his chest.
hopefully this doesn't become awkward for either of them.
Gabriel: 4/7HP (NTS: crash landed, venom spit, fire)
Constitution Roll: Whether callous works
Success: Callous prevents Urna's teeth from sinking in and he takes no damage
Fail: It fails to work and he takes -1HP
Strength Roll: To see if his bear hold works
Success: He gives her a nice deadly hug and stabs her chest with his claws for -1HP
Fail: He doesn't catch her in time and she rocket blasts away

Urna's front teeth met with unexpected resistance, scraping against a tough material like the shell of a turtle or the skin of a rhinoceros. Her bite at Gabe's legs had only been a quick shallow nip to catch flesh, not crack bone, and she'd had no time to adjust in the brief window before she kicked away. He could do that? Since when? She huffed frustration and mentally revised her list of his capabilities.
Still, the foul stench of burning fur told her that her second maneuver had been successful.
Relatively.
Instead of sailing backwards into the trees like Urna hoped, Gabriel came lunging toward her out of the cloud, streaming embers and black smoke like a horned demon. Glancing back, she saw the flash of catlike claws and reacted as quickly as she could. Flipping again, her tentacles flared midair like a squid's. Her four main arms flung out to meet him, curling in pairs around his forelegs and trying to yank them apart hard to overpower his momentum. Urna grit her teeth with the effort of trying to keep Gabriel's paws away and gain control of the grapple.
Hadn't this been what she wanted? Gabriel, close enough that she could do some serious damage? "Couldn't stay away, could you?" she snarled. She'd spent her fire for the moment, and a budding idea had her wanting to conserve her venom, so back to the basics it was.
Urna struck out with a paw, aiming for the tender burned patch on Gabriel's chest, and tried to hook him close enough for a more solid bite.
------
HP: 3/5
1. Rolling STRENGTH to try and hold Gabriel's claws away from her skin. Success: Urna grabs Gabriel's forelegs with her tentacles and manages to keep those claws outta her (no damage). Failure: Urna takes that 1 HP from last post, putting her at 2/5.
2. Rolling STRENGTH (is it cheating to use strength this much? Urna does one thing well) to Uno reverse (Urna reverse?) that bear hug and bite Gabe on the neck/chest. Success: 1 HP damage and Urna's gonna try to hold on. Failure: She doesn't manage to bite him; no damage.

Instead of his claws finding the hold he had wanted, they were instead stopped by the tendrils that extended out and yanked his arms away. His already long canines became even more exposed as his lips rose and brows furrowed in determination. Those tentacles would be a real problem for him, close range or far, and unlike their more magical abilities, those tendrils didn't need to cooldown. 'Couldn't stay away, could you?' She snarled, and he returned the words with his own, bared teeth mixed with a smile, "you came to me first."
both of them hovered in the air, which meant dodging still wasn't very feasible. somehow, he'd need to gain his momentum back. just as the idea came to his head, urna's paw came swinging down. his plan would go into motion (and hopefully himself too), as he attempted to use his backpaws to kick off of urna's body, intending to create enough distance between them that her paw swipes at nothing but air. if he is successful, the momentum will carry him back to the nearest platform, where he'll waste no time kicking off the platform with greater speed. once again, he'd attempt to bear hug her. Though this time, with her head and chest facing him, he'd try to hug her at the waist and scratch at her backside. if this is successful, his face would be cushioned and partially protected against her stomach, and they'd both be moving towards the treeline, where the gravity fluctuations would eventually drop them both.
If he had never dodged her attack in the first place: the jump-off stops before it can even start, with the wolf unable to make his countermove in time. urna grabs a hold of his lower chest area with her teeth, causing another low growl of pain as sharp fangs mix with the hurt of already tender, reddening flesh. refusing to admit defeat, he'd spread out his digits and try to grab at the mass of tendrils atop her mane with his foreclaws, and yank urna downwards with as much force as he could. he might not have momentum, but at least he could try to push her away from him.
(Okay okay this might be confusing but bare with me here)
Strength Roll 1: To try and jump off Urna with enough might/force to avoid her grab
Success: He jumps off Urna and avoids her swipe/bite, momentum carrying him safely to the nearest floating platform
Fail: He doesn't dodge fast enough and Urna successfuly hooks him closer and holds onto his lower chest area for -1HP
IF THE DODGE SUCCEEDED:
Strength Roll 2:
Success: Use his newfound momentum to slam into her stomach, get his arms around her waist, and scratch at her backside for -1HP
Fail: His trajectory is off and he misses her, OR Urna's momentum allows her to move out of the way in time
IF THE DODGE FAILED:
Strength Roll 2:
Success: He clutches her tentacles/upper neck with his claws and yanks her downwards, freeing himself from her bite and injuring her for -1HP
Fail: Whatever you want! Maybe the tentacles stop him from grabbing her again
