Once again, Eon had found himself retreating from a crumbled home. Thunderous rain had poured nonstop, flooding the old kingdom's entire domain. In the end, its residents had to retreat or face what probably would be death. He had lost his old familiar in the chaos, who had been by his side for seasons.
This wasn’t the first time Eon had fled a hopeless situation. This time, however, things felt different. This time, he had companions at his side, and he traveled with purpose. He was done sulking and feeling bad for himself. Now, he was focused on the things he could control. It wasn’t worth fussing over what he couldn’t. They had found Argaia, and here, they could begin writing a new chapter.
The new kingdom, known as Duskorna, was established nicely. Though it was still in its infancy, it was the perfect time to get to know the citizens he expected would be by his side for many coming moons. After all, his duty as a noble was to become better acquainted with the people who called Duskorna home; that was what he intended to do.
He was thankful to be out of the rain and free to use his wings. He would never again take them for granted. It felt incredible as he stretched them, feeling the soft breeze flow beneath his feathers and lift him off the ground. A few flaps, and he was in the branches of a tall tree, high enough to get a good view of the surrounding territory. His bright blue gaze flickered in the dappled sunlight as he scanned the horizons for signs of life.
A crow perched in a tree a few feet away. It stared intently at the strange-looking canid momentarily as if studying him. It then gave a loud ‘caw’ and took to the skies. Eon's gaze followed it, above the tangled tree branches and into the dusky sky, where it became nothing more than a speck amidst the floating clouds. He shook his head - he wasn’t up here to birdwatch… Why was he always distracted so easily?
